Business Experience

Since 2013, Madison has been annually recognized in the Top 25 advisors of BB&T Scott & Stringfellow and in 2017, he was recognized as one of BB&T’s Sterling Performers. Before joining the firm in 2001, Madison began his investment career in 1995 in the trust department of the Union Bank of California and in the late 1990s he worked as a vice president and fixed income portfolio manager at Robertson Stephens, a technology focused investment bank in San Francisco.

We listen carefully to our clients throughout the financial planning process to collaboratively develop holistic, understandable and effective solutions. Our network of BB&T partners, estate attorneys and Certified Public Accountants enables us to incorporate credit solutions, insurance strategies, estate planning and tax minimization strategies. Our involvement with each generation of our client families has resulted in meaningful financial legacies and multigenerational wealth transfer.

In 2017, The Frontier Investment Group was recognized as the top advisory team from the Mid-Atlantic Region of BB&T Scott & Stringfellow for partnering with BB&T to deliver credit solutions, insurance strategies, and capital market services.

Community Service

Madison is a Virginia Commonwealth University Foundation board member, serving on the investment committee and as chairman of the grant committee. He also serves on Collegiate School’s investment committee that provides oversight of the school’s endowment. In 2017, he was appointed to the professional advisors council of The Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond. Madison also volunteers as a board member of Tricycle: Urban Ag Culture.


Madison enjoys reading, sporting clays, running, playing golf, and spending time with his wife, Sarah, and their three children, John, Lucy, and Henry.
